What is Offset Press and How does it Work?

What happens is that as this cylinder starts to rotate, the images that are to be printed gets transferred to another cylinder which is known as blanket cylinder. The function of this blanket cylinder is to transfer the image that is to get printed on sheets of paper.

This is also where offset printers gets its name from. It is because of the simple reason that instead of the image being directly transferred to the sheets of paper from the printing plate, it first gets transferred to the cylinder.

Now that you have understood about the printing process of offset printers, the time is ripe to tell you about the different types of offset printers. But, before moving on to that topic, I would first like to say that now you know about offset printers, you also must know that this technique of printing is very popular too. Now, coming to the categories of offset printing, I would like to let you know that there is more than one type of offset printing. Some of the more popular ones happen to be web and sheet fed printing procedures. In sheet fed process, what happens is that the press holds the capacity of accommodating various sheets of different sizes. So, if you ask me, I will say that this method indeed makes the printing procedure a lot easier.

Now coming to another type which is web feed press – I will have to say that I would personally prefer this type as this type has more capacity of printing and can print papers on a huge scale.
