What is Offset Press and How does it Work?

So, do you wish to gain more in depth knowledge about what an Offset Press is? Does the world of printing and press fascinate and interest you? Do you wish to learn more about printing and its consumables? If the answer to any of the questions asked above has been yes from your side, then you should definitely give a reading to this article!

There are various different types of printing process that governs the age of the printing world today. Some types of printing procedures use plates that have raised designs. In my opinion, these printers work in a very similar manner to that of rubber stamps as both the procedures are somewhat similar. However, in an offset printing press, there is a little variation. There is something which is known as plate cylinder. In this method of printing, this plate cylinder is a rotating cylinder that is attached to an image plate.

This base cylinder has a thick coating of oil based ink on it. Now, the process is very simple. What happens is that as this cylinder starts to rotate, the images that are to be printed gets transferred to another cylinder which is known as blanket cylinder. The function of this blanket cylinder is to transfer the image that is to get printed on sheets of paper.

This is also where offset printers gets its name from. It is because of the simple reason that instead of the image being directly transferred to the sheets of paper from the printing plate, it first gets transferred to the cylinder.

Now that you have understood about the printing process of offset printers, the time is ripe to tell you about the different types of offset printers. But, before moving on to that topic, I would first like to say that now you know about offset printers, you also must know that this technique of printing is very popular too. Also, in my personal opinion, offset printing is a very good technique and is also very convenient a process as Offset Printing Consumables are available everywhere and so, if there is a problem in the technique or procedure, it can be solved easily too.

Now, coming to the categories of offset printing, I would like to let you know that there is more than one type of offset printing. Some of the more popular ones happen to be web and sheet fed printing procedures. In sheet fed process, what happens is that the press holds the capacity of accommodating various sheets of different sizes. So, if you ask me, I will say that this method indeed makes the printing procedure a lot easier.

Now coming to another type which is web feed press – I will have to say that I would personally prefer this type as this type has more capacity of printing and can print papers on a huge scale.

So, in order to sum up, I would like to say that you should opt for any offset printing technique that is suitable for you as Offset Printing Consumables are available everywhere and therefore, you will be able to print without any problems at all!
