How to Save On Printing Inks?



Printing has always been an extremely popular in various industries. From graphic prints to screen prints, there are various kinds that are used by people. However, for each kind, there is one or the other kind of printing ink available in the market. If the right ink is nor chosen, it may hamper the quality of print and the end result may not be up to the mark.

Usually these inks are quite expensive and therefore, one must make sure that not too much ink is wasted. To minimize this waste, there has to be a steady management. During change of a colour or even when a press is cleaned, a lot of colour is wasted. Although it is a fact that inks will be wasted while printing continues, if you do not consider it to be a waste at all, you can effectively utilise it again in printing.

Each and every type of printing ink contains a significant amount of volatile organic compound, also known as VOC. This is because the base of any of these kinds of inks is petroleum. That is the reason why it is advised that these ink containers are always covered and sealed so that they do not evaporate and can minimise the waste caused due to exposure and evaporation. Not only this, but there is also a use of various metal solvents to accelerate the drying procedure. Continuous and prolonged exposure to the atmosphere will quicken the drying process. Hence, you must keep the containers covered with wax paper or plastic.

It is also very important that you scrape off as much ink from each and every container as possible, before you put those containers for disposal and recycling. In case there is a need for black ink, use the excess inks from various containers and mix them up. When you use high quality inks, it is a very good way of utilising excess ink in making black colour by mixing them up as mixture of different colours produces high quality black ink for printing.

After the task of printing is done, you must use the wash up blades. These do the task of scraping off the excess ink from the printing machines. The better is the quality of these blades, the washing up will be better. But you need to buy the best quality blades from professional and excellent manufacturers of inks and blades.

These wash up blades are made up of plastic, rubber or even some other speciality materials. Using them will ensure that there is maximum resistance and performance of this. The best quality of blades is those that are made up using a unique bonding process between a rubber and a metal.
